It addresses with determining the curriculum for a scenario where students are grouped as homogeneous and have a common set of requirements. Thus, the goal of this study is to investigate the state of ESP teaching and learning in a third-year graduate student class at the University of Murni Teguh, Department of Economics. The researcher makes an effort to determine whether the ESP method of teaching EFL is used in this particular class. In order to do this, a representative sample of 50 students was selected at random and joined by their ESP instructor, a specialist in the same department. Two study tools have been used to gather data: a structured interview with the teacher and a questionnaire for the students. Consequently, a quantitative and qualitative analysis has been conducted. The findings showed that students are taught in general English with little consideration for their academic and professional demands (once they are employed). Instead, there is a strong emphasis on learning economic concepts and translating brief texts into Arabic, the students' native tongue. The ESP teacher also mentioned how he sensed a need for particular "teacher training." The findings may help ESP teachers understand what is actually required in this particular situation. Therefore, depending on the needs of each specific subject, ESP approaches should be used to teach English.
Selviana Napitupulu, Kisno Kisno, Fenty Debora Napitupulu Copyright (c) 2024 Selviana Napitupulu, Kisno Kisno, Fenty Debora Napitupulu https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijere/article/view/728 Sun, 07 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Writing Skill’ Assessment of English Department’ Fourth Semester Students at University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar (UHKBPNP) https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijere/article/view/748
The objective of this research is to assess how the writing skill’ of the Department students at University of HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar (UHKBPNP). The Quran includes many verses on the subject of women's rights. Through textual interpretation, it can be seen that women have rights that are analogous to those of men, despite certain differences in certain areas, which can be attributed to the differing roles and responsibilities typically assumed by men. In Islam, women also possess rights similar to those of men, though certain matters differ. This discrepancy is attributed to the primary functions and responsibilities assumed by men. We evaluated previous research in this area through a review of the literature, highlighting the benefits of counseling in the child's early developmental stages. This study found that timely and targeted counseling interventions in early childhood can improve emotional well-being, social development, and academic achievement. The focus of such interventions is often a counseling approach that is play-based, involves the family, and supports the child's independence. Counseling has also been shown to help young children avoid more serious behavioral or emotional problems in the future. The practical implications of these findings highlight the importance of a holistic approach to supporting early childhood development and highlight the need for investment in mentoring resources at the early childhood education level.
Muhammadi, Harnon, Johannes Copyright (c) 2024 Muhammadi, Harnon, Johannes https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijere/article/view/910 Mon, 03 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Mixing Codes in Comments on Youtube Video Posts Debate for Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates for the 2024 Election https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijere/article/view/893
This February, Indonesia will hold a democratic party to elect members of parliament and the president. The scope of Aqidah that allows students to form noble morals will result in them becoming qualified humans in all aspects of life. From the perspective of Aqidah, which plays a role in the formation of human morals, it can be said that humans can avoid despicable morals as a manifestation of the teachings of Islamic Aqidah. The morals derived from the Qur'an and hadith serve as the foundation for the development of spiritual values, which in turn produce quality generations. Aqidah and morals are inextricably linked; noble morals serve as a reflection of a person's personality and can elevate one's status. Moral education can be considered a form of moral education within the context of Islamic education. The objective of this study is to examine the learning of moral creed among students at XYZ School, and to assess the efficacy of this learning in fostering the formation of religious character. The research applied a quantitative descriptive method by analyzing questionnaire instruments distributed to 35 elementary school teacher education students who took microteaching courses in the fourth semester. Data collection used a closed-ended questionnaire instrument and focus group discussions to identify teaching skills that are still needed by students to be trained through peer teaching. The results of the data analysis showed that the average student perception of peer-teaching reached an average of > 4 (figure 1) out of 12 questionnaire questions. This figure indicates a good category. The results of the focus group discussion obtained data that what still needs to be trained through peer teaching is adjusting learning strategies to the learning material and the background of students and eliminating the fear of making mistakes that make them insecure in front of their peers. Based on the results of data analysis, it is concluded that students' perceptions are good about peer teaching and can help them equip teaching skills as prospective elementary school teachers. However, it is still necessary to add skill training through peer teaching about adjusting learning strategies to the material being taught and eliminating self-confidence. From the findings of this study, it is suggested that to prepare the competence of elementary school teachers through micro-teaching courses, the peer teaching method needs to be maintained but it needs to be added to the content of skills that are still needed by students, namely preparing lesson plans.
Prihantini, Ranu Sudarmansyah Copyright (c) 2024 Prihantini, Ranu Sudarmansyah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijere/article/view/927 Wed, 26 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Knowledge, Awareness, and Practice Regarding Hypothyroidism among Graduate Female Population of a Private University in Dhaka, Bangladesh https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijere/article/view/943
Hypothyroidism is chronic disease that occurs due to insufficient release of thyroid hormone. A sample of 234 adolescents was analysed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analyses. The results indicate no significant gender differences in social self-efficacy and alexithymia. However, significant differences were observed across educational levels, with college students exhibiting higher social self-efficacy and lower alexithymia compared to younger students. Additionally, adolescents with siblings demonstrated higher social self-efficacy and lower alexithymia than only children. The study also found significant negative correlations between social self-efficacy and the subscales of alexithymia (Difficulty Identifying Feelings, Difficulty Describing Feelings, and Externally-Oriented Thinking), suggesting that higher social self-efficacy is associated with better emotional awareness and expression. These findings highlight the importance of tailored interventions that address both social and emotional skills, particularly for younger adolescents and only children.
Kavita Sharma Copyright (c) 2024 Kavita Sharma https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijere/article/view/905 Sun, 30 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000
