On the other hand, not much is known about school-student's hygiene and sanitation habits. The purpose of this study is to identify and comprehend the variables that affect students' behavior related to sanitation and hygiene in classrooms. Method: This study was carried out at the Katiadi Government High School, a high school in a Bangladeshi upazilla town. An exploratory qualitative study design, based on the Integrated Behavioral Model for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (IBM-WASH) was used. Before utilizing them, the effectiveness and clarity of the semi-structured interview guides were tested, which included questions about behavior, access, and practices related to sanitation and hygiene. Result: The students had quite low sanitation and hygiene practices despite having a reasonable level of awareness and knowledge. Sanitation and hygiene practices were influenced by a wide range of interrelated factors, which also affected one another. Contextual factors (lack of upkeep and cleanliness, availability of sanitary products), socio-behavioral factors (norms, peer influence), and individual factors (gender awareness, perception, and sense of health benefits). Conclusion: To advance improved sanitation and hygiene practices among school students, multi-level interventions such as regular delivery of WASH-related materials and agents, promotion of low-cost WASH interventions, quality cleaning services improvement, close observation of cleaning activities, individual hygiene behavior promotion, and introduction of gender-sensitive WASH infrastructure and construction may be helpful.
Bithe Saha Majedul Hoque Anupam Sarker Avi Asim Das Copyright (c) 2024 Bithe Saha, Majedul Hoque, Anupam Sarker Avi, Asim Das https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-06-03 2024-06-03 4 1 01 12 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.869 Influence Green Bean Extract in Increasing Hemoglobin (Hb) Levels in Trimester II Pregnant Motherat Pratama Clinic of bunda Tessa Dusun 1A Sidourip Sub-District Beringin Deli Serdang Regency in 2023 https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijphe/article/view/646
Introduction: Pregnant women with anemia are still many in Indonesia, including in North Sumatra which reached 39%. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading source of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major contributor to this matter. Kidney disease is estimated to affect over 850 million people worldwide. The present systematic review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. We searched studies from electronic databases (PubMed Central, ScienceDirect, PLoS One, Google Scholar, Nature). Studies were considered eligible if they met the following criteria : (1) the study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT), (2) the study was published in the last 5 years (2018– 2022), (3) the study participants were adult patients with kidney disease from stage III to end-stage who were given vitamin K supplementation, (4) the study reported coronary artery calcium scores pre- and post- vitamin K supplementation, (5) the study was published in English. Risk of bias of each study was evaluated using Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB) 2 tool. Data were descriptively examined and narratively reported. In conclusion, our results do not suggest that vitamin K supplementation may affect vascular calcification as measured by the CAC score. Up till now there is no treatment to reverse vascular calcification in ESKD patients. The current clinical practice should focus on prevention and retardation of its progression.
Kevin Liora Putri Dhiya Prameswari Wiyono Ananda Putra Devin Alexander Afif Ramadhan Anissya Rima Oktavia Olivia Larissa Fajar Prianto Nugroho Teddy Tjahyanto Copyright (c) 2024 Kevin Liora, Putri Dhiya Prameswari Wiyono, Ananda Putra, Devin Alexander, Afif Ramadhan, Anissya Rima Oktavia, Olivia Larissa, Fajar Prianto Nugroho, Teddy Tjahyanto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-07-07 2024-07-07 4 1 037 043 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.919 Description of HbA1c Levels in Fatty Liver Disease Patients in a West Jakarta Private Hospital in 2018-2019 https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijphe/article/view/922
Fatty liver disease is a chronic disease that is very often found in the community and is often called "silent" liver disease because there are no specific symptoms in patients. The incidence of fatty liver disease in Indonesia is quite high by 30 percent and this disease can develop into liver cirrhosis. The high incidence of fatty liver disease can be caused by various factors such as obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, unhealthy lifestyles and insulin resistance. Insulin resistance can be characterized by an increase in HbA1c levels in the blood. This study aims to determine the description of HbA1c levels in patients with fatty liver disease. This research is an observational descriptive study using a cross-sectional approach by using medical record data of fatty liver disease patients who have been on radiologic examination and doing HbA1c examination. Fatty liver disease affects more male sex groups by 55.4 percent, with the most age range at 51-60 years by 34.9 percent. Diabetes HbA1c levels (59%) are more than prediabetes (25.3%) and normal HbA1c levels (15.7%). Abnormal HbA1c levels (prediabetes and diabetes) were found to be higher in men (47 % vs 47,3%). The most accompanying diseases in patients with fatty liver disease are diabetes mellitus (51.8%), hypertension (33.7%), dyslipidemia (26.5%), dyspepsia (28.9%), and hyperuricemia (15.7%). Fatty liver disease patients were also found to have metabolic syndrome by 54.2% which was dominated by female sex by 53.3% with 91.1% having 3 components of metabolic syndrome and 8.9% having 4 components of metabolic syndrome
Steven Junius Chandra Paskalis Andrew Gunawan Copyright (c) 2024 Steven Junius Chandra, Paskalis Andrew Gunawan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-07-07 2024-07-07 4 1 044 050 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.922 Factors Relating to the Activity of Mother’s Visits to the Posyandu https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijphe/article/view/844
A significant indicator that contributes to lessening efforts is the number of toddler trips to Posyandu. In the operational area of Tanjungpinang City's Mekarbaru Health Center, 36.40% of visitors are Posyandu visits in 2023. This coverage continues to fall well short of both national and provincial statistics, as well as the government's accomplishment goals. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics that influence toddler visits to Posyandu, Batu IX Village, Mekar Baru Health Center Working Area, Tanjungpinang City, in the province of the Riau Islands. With a cross-sectional methodology and a purposive sample strategy, 191 mothers of toddlers between the ages of 13 and 59 months make up the sample size for this kind of quantitative study. Surveys were used to collect measurements. The statistical test of chi-square was applied in data analysis. The findings of the study indicate that moms of toddlers who visit Posyandu have a relationship with perceptions of Posyandu services (p=0.001; OR=2.735) and family support (p = 0.000; OR=3.237). The mother's age, education, occupation, knowledge, and attitude have little bearing on how frequently she visits Posyandu. Broadly speaking, food poisoning refers to any illness brought on by eating food that contains bacteria or non-bacterial substances. Stated differently, it's an acute instance of gastroenteritis caused by ingesting chemicals-contaminated food or drink, animal or plant-derived poisons, or living microbes and their toxins. Acute gastroenteritis is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality. The most vulnerable are newborns and young children. The clinical symptoms of a foodborne infection are determined by the pathogenic mechanisms that underlie it. The main symptoms are headache, nervousness, intense thirst, abrupt vomiting, diarrhea, colicky discomfort, cold, clammy skin, slow heartbeat, rigours, and cramps. The provision of clean, drinkable water, appropriate disposal of human and animal sewage with isolation from water supplies, and fundamental food hygiene standards are all very effective ways to prevent the development of these disorders.
Md Mamunur Roshed Copyright (c) 2024 Md Mamunur Roshed https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-07-27 2024-07-27 4 1 079 083 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.961 Intensity of Instagram Related Fear of Missing Out in Medical Student Community https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijphe/article/view/962
Introduction: It is estimated that there are 175.4 social media users in Indonesia and around 160 million people are active on social media. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 830 women die every day due to complications from pregnancy and childbirth. In 2015, approximately 303,000 women died during pregnancy, childbirth, or in the postpartum period. The theme of this study is to investigate the influence of postpartum exercise on the speed of uterine involution among postpartum mothers at BPM Mona Durryah Siregar, SKM in North Padangsidimpuan District. This study utilized a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest only design. The research was conducted at BPM Mona Durryah Siregar, SKM in North Padangsidimpuan District. The population consisted of 10 postpartum mothers, with a sample size of 10. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analyses. The results of the study showed a significant decrease in uterine fundus height among the 10 respondents, with a percentage of 2.70%. None of the respondents experienced subinvolution after the postpartum exercise intervention. However, 10 respondents faced challenges in decreasing uterine fundus height both before and after the intervention. The Wilcoxon ρ-value test of 0.004 indicates that postpartum exercise influences the speed of uterine involution among postpartum mothers. The implications of this study suggest that implementing postpartum exercise therapy can accelerate uterine involution among postpartum mothers. It is recommended that these findings be used to develop counseling programs related to postpartum exercise at BPM Mona Durryah Siregar, SKM.
Fatimah Maryam Latifah Harahap Rahmah Juliani Siregar Elvi Suryani Copyright (c) 2024 Fatimah, Maryam Latifah Harahap, Rahmah Juliani Siregar, Elvi Suryani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-07-31 2024-07-31 4 1 107 111 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.950 The Effectiveness of Infant Massage on Weight Gain of Preterm Infants https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijphe/article/view/978
A preterm birth is a high-risk event occurring when the gestational age is less than 37 weeks. This can result in adverse outcomes, such as a low birth weight (LBW). The immaturity of the lungs in premature infants increases the likelihood of developing respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). To address this, it is essential to enhance nutritional fulfillment in premature babies with LBW and RDS through targeted intervention. This can be achieved through techniques like massage therapy and nesting installation, which have been shown to stimulate infants' growth and development. The objective of this case study is to determine the effectiveness of combined massage therapy and nesting in increasing the weight of premature babies with LBW accompanied by RDS. The research employed a case study approach. The subjects were premature babies with LBW accompanied by RDS in the perinatology room of the National Referral Hospital in Indonesia. This case study revealed that combined massage and nesting therapy resulted in a 6.1%–7.8% increase in body weight and a stabilization of oxygen saturation from days one to three of therapy. This outcome can be attributed to the fact that massage stimulates the release of gastrointestinal hormones that contribute to weight gain, and that nesting encourages the production of growth hormones resulting from restorative sleep. The integration of these two therapies has been found to significantly enhance body weight and maintain oxygen saturation levels within an optimal range. It is therefore evident that the role of nurses as nursing care providers must be enhanced in order to provide the necessary stimulation interventions for premature babies with LBW accompanied by RDS.
Tika Ayu Pratiwi Febri Yusnanda Novi Susanti Sri Ilawati Copyright (c) 2024 Tika Ayu Pratiwi, Febri Yusnanda, Novi Susanti, Sri Ilawati https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-08-09 2024-08-09 4 1 112 118 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.978 Benefits of Inggir-Inggir Fruit (Solanum Sanitwongsei Craib.) for Reducing Hypertension Pressure https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijphe/article/view/981
Hypertension is one of the silent killer diseases known as cardiovascular disease. Inadequate nutrition during adolescence will cause various problems, one of which is anemia. Anemia has negative impacts, including impaired growth and development, decreased learning achievement, and impaired immunity, thus increasing the occurrence of infections and reproductive disorders. This research is quasi-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The research was conducted at Muhammadiyah I Lamongan Vocational School with a total of 44 female students. The sampling technique used in this research was total sampling. Research data analysis was carried out using the paired T-test statistical test. The results of the study showed that carrying out Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) while administering Fe tablets for 12 weeks was able to significantly increase Fe levels in adolescents, with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05).
Lilin Turlina Amrina Nur Rohmah Copyright (c) 2024 Lilin Turlina, Amrina Nur Rohmah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-08-12 2024-08-12 4 1 134 138 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.958 The Recovery from Grade II Burns in Test Mice (Mus Musculus Linn) After Using Iodine Leaf Latex Gel (Jatropha Multifida Linn) https://ejournal.ipinternasional.com/index.php/ijphe/article/view/913
Burn injuries are emergencies that pose a severe threat and require immediate action to save lives. The saponins, tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids in iodine leaf latex gel (Jatropha multifida Linn) are known to speed up the healing process for burn wounds. The research aimed to investigate the effect of iodin leaf latex gel on the recovery of grade II burn wounds in male mice (Mus musculus Linn). The research employed a true-experimental laboratory method with-a-post-test-only control design group at the Kusuma Husada University Laboratory in Surakarta. A total of 24 test mice were manipulated and divided into three groups: the positive control group, the negative control group, and the iodine leaf latex gel group. Burn wounds utilized a 1,5 cm superheated mental surface applied to the backs of the mice for 5-10 seconds to induce burn injuries. The observed parameters included the burn wound area, the percentage of burn wound healing, and the duration of burn wound healing. Data analysis operated One-Way ANOVA. The research revealed that iodine leaf latex gel had a restorative time of 8 days and healing percentage of 30,75%. It was better than the other control groups. The statistical analysis indicated significance (<0,05) in the burn wound recovery percentage. In conclusion, a 6% concentration of iodine leaf latex gel had a more favorable effect on burn wound healing than other control groups.
Saelan Saelan Lalu M. Nurses who do not wash their hands before and after the procedure can become an intermediary for infection in patients at the service site or hospital and spread various multi-resistant organisms. This research aims to identify nurses' hand washing compliance and related factors. A descriptive correlation design was conducted in a hospital in West Java. Data on nurse characteristics and hand washing compliance were taken using a five moments test questionnaire cross-sectionally among nurses using the total sampling method and analyzed univariately and bivariately using descriptive analysis and the chi square test. A total of 67 nurses were involved in this research, the majority of respondents were aged 25-35 years (43/64.2%), women (42/62.7%), had a bachelor's degree (36/53.8%), had worked less than 5 years (42/62.7%) , lack of knowledge (35/52.2%), and have a positive attitude (38/56.7%), generally do not comply with hand washing protocols (34/50.7%). The nurse's age is related to hand washing compliance (p 0.002 < α 0.05), while gender (p 0.242), education (p 0.534), length of work (p 0.874), knowledge (p 0.907), and attitude (p 0.397) have α value > 0.05. Nurses' hand washing compliance is still less than the target. Age is related to nurses' compliance in implementing hand hygiene. Meanwhile, gender, education, length of work, knowledge and attitudes are not related to nurse compliance. Efforts are needed to increase nurses' knowledge to increase nurses' compliance in washing hands.
Linda Amalia Sri Sumartini Priyo Sasmito Nengsih Yulianingsih Nina Sutresna Copyright (c) 2024 Linda Amalia, Sri Sumartini, Priyo Sasmito, Nengsih Yulianingsih, Nina Sutresna https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2024-09-15 2024-09-15 4 1 168 173 10.55299/ijphe.v4i1.1002
